I hiked up the closed Dosewallips Road on July 23, 2026. I was thinking of Stratton last summer, on nearly the same date, going up the Dose, and climbing and riding Mount Anderson. I talked with him when he was still up high, maybe Anderson Pass? I had forgotten to tell him in that conversation that I had climbed Mount Anderson in 1984, the summer I turned 20, my first summer in the West. He hiked out the entire way in one day. I don't even know how ridiculously far that is. I love the Olympics and I loved how he was exploring them on his own.
